Summer Makeup Must-Haves By Sumaira Nashat

Lately we have been wondering about the makeup must-have products a bride or anyone getting ready for Summer wedding events should have. To help us out with our question, some of our favorite makeup pros have put together a list of recommendations of products that they usually use on their brides and consider as great investments. So ladies! For the next few weeks, watch out for a series of posts on summer makeup must-haves!

Our first recommendation comes from the talented makeup artist Sumaira Nashat from Sacremento, California.

My recommended products that are tested to have worked on my clients:

1. A gel-based moisturizer that will keep the shine away, yet prep the skin for a smooth foundation application. No matter what skin type, or the weather condition, I always start my makeup with a soft massage of a good moisturizer. The key is to leave it on for at least 1-2 minutes, let the skin absorb it, and then start the foundation routine. For a bride with oily skin, she can use a ply of a tissue paper to gently pat the residue away. For dry/combination skin, I’d leave the moisturizer on fully.

Moisturizer recommendations:
MAC Lightful Deep Ultramoisture
Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel

2. For the bride, I always prefer a matte/satin-textured foundation, because it needs to stay put all day/night long, while keeping the shine away. I would apply it in thin layers and then build it up, and not apply a ton of it at the same time. This will prevent any caking effect, and will make the foundation look as natural as possible, while still giving a strong coverage. For the purpose of an Indian, Pakistani, or Middle Eastern wedding, I always use a medium to full coverage foundation.

Foundation recommendations:

MAC Studio Fix Fluid
Makeup Forever Matte Velvet

3.
Waterproof Mascara

Top picks and absolute mascara favorites:
Loreal Voluminous Carbon Black
MAC Splashproof Mascara

4
. Blush – I prefer powder blush, so everything stays put, but for a softer, more glowing look, one can also try a cream blush
.

My top blush picks are all from MAC:
Peachykeen, Springsheen and Mocha

*Following item almost made the list, so I’m adding it as a runner-up for the top 4 spots. With this item included, a bride can walk down the aisle confidently*

5. A matte/satin textured lipstick from MAC, Revlon, or NARS in the shades of nude pink, rich red, or muted pink/peach.
