Saffron Cakes is a small custom cake catering company based in Atlanta, GA. Team includes three very close friends that have a knack for creativity and a passion for art, and in this case, the art is cake. Saffron Cakes was officially launched in the beginning of January 2011 but each one of the three members has been creating individual works for several years prior. Currently we make custom cakes, including and specializing in wedding cakes, but also offer other dessert catering. One specialty and the most popular items are the dark chocolate cake and buttercream. The cake is decadent and deeply chocolate while still remaining light and moist. The buttercream is rumored to be the best around by everyone who has tasted it, even those who do not particularly enjoy any type of icing. Saffron Cakes use only real ingredients, and refrain from using any preservatives. Every item is made fresh from scratch and to order to comply with dietary needs. The company also uses Kosher Dairy products such as fondant to meet religious restrictions in the Muslim and Jewish community, and focus on South Asian style weddings and fusion weddings. Every piece of work is unique and hand crafted for each client.
Ruhina Ahmed and Alison Bowman graduated from The International School of Culinary from the Art Institute of Atlanta with concentrations in Baking and Pastry and classic training in culinary arts. The girls are very close friends with passion for baking and launching Saffron Cakes is a dream come true. Sharmeen Omar-Ahmed, Ruhina’s sister-in-law, is a full time mother and wife. Her natural artistic and Public Relations talents are a key ingredient to the success of Saffron Cakes. Initially starting in party planning, she brought her decorating talents to Saffron Cakes and has really publicized the company.
